"Biggest Loser" Competiton

The first two months of 2014 is a time when many have new years resolutions. For many it usually involves exercising more and losing weight. So, sure enough there was a competition put together from the IHS nurses for all IHS Staff that were interested in a weight loss competition, a "Biggest Loser" style competition. It was for a two month period. All four of your IHS Transition II staff participated in the competition along with several more IHS staff members.
The competition was based upon most percentage lost from their original weigh-in weight for the two month period. For most it was more about achieving goals and getting healthier then the competition itself. However, Mrs. Huffmaster and Coach Gates were tied throughout most of the competition. Each within just a percentage points of each other. Whether it was running in the cold crazy winter weather or heading to the local rec center for cardio and weight lifting work and entering calorie count on their smart phone apps all participants were able to choose their own method to losing the weight and get healthier.
Finally, On March 13, the competition came to a close. When the final totals were tallied the top three winners came from the IHS Transition staff. First Place was Mrs. Huffmaster with 9% loss, Second place was Coach Gates with 7% loss, and Third Place was Mrs. Newcome with 6% loss (We purposely left off the pounds each person lost -Coach Gates 19.8#). All three lost a total of 46 lbs during this time frame. A great job from all that participated in the IHS "Biggest Loser" competition.
Yes, there will be another competition to start after spring break. Here's to more weight loss for all of Independence High School staff.
